Do the cheats for the Super Star Wars games work on the virtual console?

Anyone know if the cheats (I think you have to use the second controller in the original SNES versions) can be activated on the virtual console versions of the Super Star Wars games?Do the cheats for the Super Star Wars games work on the virtual console?I used the old axbxxay on Super Empire Strikes Back and it worked fine. They all probably work. The cheats were entered into the coding of the game. They probably didnt change anything.
