I have begun to become interested in the whole Star Trek universe and was just wondering how it all started. Did it begin with a book series, television series, a movie, or something else? The reason I would like to know this is because I want to start either reading the original books (if they were the origin of Star Trek as I have mentioned) or watching original series (if they were the origin). Please if you have any advice as how to start with Star Trek for a novice who knows barely anything about it, feel free to lecture! :)
Thanks!Star Trek origin and how to start? Its origins are best explained here...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_TrekStar Trek origin and how to start? You should start by the newest movie since it "happens" at the beginning (though *spoiler alert* it does not actually happen first because it actually takes place in a parallel universe as it is explained by the "old" Spock in the movie).
Then you can watch the series.
Then you can watch the movies.
After that, you can watch the "Next Generation" series.
The books should come at least after the "first" movie, and even series.Star Trek origin and how to start?Gene Roddenberry started the series in the 1960s. There were no books that spawned the series. But there are lots of books that were spawned BY the series.
My favorite star trek series was the original. Yes, the special effects are pretty bad by today's standards, but the chemistry of the actors, and the plots are really cool, in my opinion.
The movies Star Trek 1, 2, 3, and 4 are good. 5 was ok.
The newest star trek movies , i have not seen. I am sure they were awesome in special effects.
You can get the full Star Trek original series on ebay or amazon for decent prices. You should start with them, then Star Trek Next Generation, and maybe a few of the older movies.Star Trek origin and how to start?
If you want to start at the beginning, production-wise, the Star Trek the Original Series would be the best place to begin watching as it was the beginnings of Star Trek as we know it.
However, if you ant to start watching Star Trek in chronological order from a canon perspective (that is, in the context of the Star Trek timeline), then the place to start would be with the series: Star Trek: Enterprise which is set about a century before classic Star Trek.
