How long should you take a video game away from a 15 yr old who broke into a house and stole a game system?

He did this once before to but not the breaking and entering. He is obsessed with video games. He has only played a video game once in four months since it happened. My husband thinks he should have them back now. I think we should slowly give hime his videogame privellages an hour at a time. Please help. How long should you take a video game away from a 15 yr old who broke into a house and stole a game system?Chances are pretty high that if he's still obsessed with gaming after four months of virtually no playing time, he is probably getting to play it somewhere or sometime that you're not aware of.

Were there no consequences for the breaking and entering when it came to the courts?

If you do choose to give him his rights back, I would make him earn them. Having him do his chores to earn five or ten minutes at a time is a good idea. And having you take away his priviledges when he is acting up is a good idea as well.

Also, make sure that you are monitoring exactly what your child is playing, and make sure that he is only allowed to play after ALL of his chores and homework are done. Video games are a priviledge, not a right. How long should you take a video game away from a 15 yr old who broke into a house and stole a game system?
It all depends, if you think he has learned his lesson then slowly give him back his privallages. Maybe something like; 1 more hour of video game time every month. And if something goes wrong again, depending on how serious it is either completely take back his video game time or take 1 hour or more back. He can keep working up until he gets full privalages if everything runs smoothly. How long should you take a video game away from a 15 yr old who broke into a house and stole a game system?I think your idea is good but if he is obsessed with them then you should take them away altogether. He should only get to play 1 hour a month and he can use the time throughout the month.
