i want to create my own games on windows but i have Absolutely no knowledge of programming at all. i have looked on the internet about beginning programming and many places say buy books on C/C++ programming but i dont even know what that is.
i need to start right at the basics and hopefully one day make my first game.
there is no classes about programming near where i live so i need to be able to teach myself.Where should i start with game programming ?If you want to get into the gaming industry you'll want to know Java or C++ (preferably C++ because mostly everything is made with C++).
Note : C++ and Java are programming languages. You write the code in their language and then it compiles it then runs your program.
There are basic languages such as turing that will teach you the basics of programming and the basics of programming concepts and you can also make games in turing but not nearly as good as it'd be in a high class language like C++ or Java.
You can learn C++ even if your a beginner but it would make it so much harder for you to learn. But you shouldn't give up hope. If you search up "CodingMadeEasy" on youtube and watch his videos they'll teach you the basics of C++ easily and if you want to learn Java then search up (thenewboston) and watch his java tutorials. Both of them are very thorough when teaching so you'll get a lot out of them.
The thing about Java and C++ is that you can't really make games out of the box, you've got to add libraries and then learn how to code from those libraries (not going to get into detail on that) So if you want to make a simple game just to get the feel of things I advise you to start with turing and go on compsci.ca click on turing and then turing tutorials and you'll learn from those tutorials.... and turing has all the functions built into it so you can make games in not time but remember they're not nearly as good and you can't really make 3d games and stuff (it would be really hard and a HUGE!! waste of time).
Also if you want a book on C++ or Java go to your local library and borrow one rather than buying one from a bookstore, it saves you money! because after you learn the basics you won't need the book anymore and therefore will be a complete waste of money.
Anyways to sun it all up.
You could learn basic languages such as Turing or visual Basic
or you can get right into C++ or Java.
If you start with an easier language then it'll make the harder languages (c++ and java) much easier to learn. If you decide to learn C++ or Java or C# or any other hard language first , it'll benefit you in the long run because you'll know all the coding concepts of all the other languages meaning it'll be WAY easier to learn any other language!
Oh and if you decided to go with a hard language don't get upset over it. It might get frustrating at times but keep at it, you'll see the rewards later on :D
Hope this helped.Where should i start with game programming ?Thats going to be difficult but not impossible :) If your going to be in the gaming industry you most definately want to get into java programming since 99% of flash games, mmos and etc run it. Find out what university textbooks on java are currently being used and purchase one, seriously.
Try:
Introduction to Java programming, eigth edition
Im not sure who the author is but it has a humming bird on it. Its an excellent book and goes into great detail, while making it easy to understand.
Goodluck! :DWhere should i start with game programming ?you can get plenty of resources.. its on u which ever u choose... c#, vb.net, java, flash action script.. which ever u find comfortable. google it.. there are hell lot of tutorials on that.. happy programming.. :)
