Why when I play Mario Sports Mix in volleyball star cup, I wont be able to go to star road?

Ok, so when I played volleyball on star cup again, I defeated round 1. Then once it was round 2. I wasnt able to go to the ship! I just went to battle right away to the original matches! Plz anser!Why when I play Mario Sports Mix in volleyball star cup, I wont be able to go to star road?you have to finish the game with your characters special move. make sure you are winning and do your special when there is only 5 seconds left in the game. you HAVE to do this either the first or second game of the cup. be ready for mini games.
