I want to get a star named after my boyfriend. I live in hyderabad and i want to know where i can get it registered. thanks a ton for eveything. How can i get a star named after my boyfriend?I would add the following - please be aware that any star that is "sold" to you in this fashion cannot be seen with the naked eye, or even with most telescopes.
As described above, they will allow you to register a name, but it will not be recognized by anyone else - just you. And the star will either be a 14th magnitude star that is far too dim to be seen, or it will be located in the center of a globular cluster with a half million other stars. I know this from experience - trying to locate stars for people with high expectations that I could not find with a pretty decent amateur telescope.
So if only you two recognize this as the name of the star - and it cannot be seen anyway - why not just save the money and pick your own star? Just a friendly suggestion based on plenty of experience with this particular scam. How can i get a star named after my boyfriend?
There's only two ways to properly get a star named after someone:
If that someone is an astronomer, and they discover a star with unusual properties, other astronomers may choose to designate that star after the astronomer that discovered it. Such as Barnard's star, Van Maanen's star, etc.
The other way to get a star named after you is to get a good agent and have acting talent. One day if successful, such an actor will be awarded their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
As far as *buying* a star in the sky, it's a scam. How can i get a star named after my boyfriend? That is not legally possible. There are plenty of scam websites and businesses that claim you can name stars (in a book they'll sell you) but you cannot actually name a star. The only organization that can legally name stars is the International Astronomical Union, and they don't name them after people. If your boyfriend knows anything about astronomy, he already knows this, and would be embarrassed if you wasted your money on a scam.
This is a scam. The only body which can officially name astronomical bodies is the International Astronomical Union, and they don't name stars. They name planets, comets, asteroids, and surface features on planets. Stars nowadays are primarily known by catalog numbers. There are companies which will take your money and claim to name stars on your behalf, but such names have no official standing and will not be used by astronomers. Don't waste your money! How can i get a star named after my boyfriend? There are places online, and I suspect if you contacted one of them you could arrange to mail a check or go to an office in person.
But be aware that they are all "fake". None of the names they sell is going to be officially recognized as THE name of that star. All they will do is print you a certificate and maybe record the information in their own database. The International Astronomical Union will not officially recognize that name and one of the many other companies that sell stars might very well sell the same star to a different person. How can i get a star named after my boyfriend?
Dont use the service online they are a scam is like bying air in a bottle, this services will give you certifiacte but is not recognize by any astronomical institution, do what i did I made a pretty cool certificate and pick a star close to the big dipper (so i know where to locate it) and "claimed as mine" and renamed Ethan (my boyfriends name) and gave it to him...it was quite cool because at least with can always see it to the nake eye...
Stars are not for sale. Some people cheat U by providing a printed certificate and star map.which anybody can make with a computer and printer. Nobody is authorized to sell stars!
