Have you heard the suggestion about a dim red dwarf star at the edge of our solar system?

I think it was proposed by astrophysicist Richard Muller. Saw it on a documentary, and I was wondering what are some opinions about his idea.

Its supposed to be an undiscovered companion star to our own Sun.Have you heard the suggestion about a dim red dwarf star at the edge of our solar system? There are red dwarfs, these are dim stars on the lower end of the main sequence. Red dwarfs are common in the Sun's vicinity because they are so dim they are only seen in the nearby neighborhood. However I doubt there is a red dwarf near the edge of our solar system. We would have seen it by now or noticed its effects on the outer Oort belt comets.Have you heard the suggestion about a dim red dwarf star at the edge of our solar system?
I dont think there is such thing as a red dwarf star. There are white dwarfs and yellow dwarfs. Our own sun is a Yellow dwarf, Then there are brown dwarfs. It could be some dwarf star flying off in the direction causing a red shift. But I for one do not believe we live in binary star system. Recent discoveries have shown that most solar systems are binary star systems and do infect have planets, so its not out of the questions that we could live in one. If we do have a companion star to our own it would have to be a brown dwarf do to the fact that brown dwarf burn at a temp of boiling water and have a low gravity field.Have you heard the suggestion about a dim red dwarf star at the edge of our solar system?First off there is no type of star called a Red Dwarf. You're thinking of Red Giant. Now a red giant is a star that has burned most of it's fuel and when it expanda it shoots off the outer layer of it's matter in an explosion that creates a planetary nebula.

Red giants are huge! Around the size of Earths orbit!!!! So if one were in our solar system it would appear larger than our sun. As our sun is pretty small in comparison to other suns.

So, there is no red giant in our solar system.Have you heard the suggestion about a dim red dwarf star at the edge of our solar system?
Yes, I have heard of it. The hypothetical star is called Nemesis, and the theory is correspondingly known as the 'Nemesis theory' or some variation thereof.

There isn't much good reason to believe any such thing really exists, though.Have you heard the suggestion about a dim red dwarf star at the edge of our solar system? No, I haven't heard of it. And it sounds like bollocks. We would detect it immediately. We have already spotted thousands of red dwarfs, so one that close would be easy to see.Have you heard the suggestion about a dim red dwarf star at the edge of our solar system?
I have heard this idea in several forms over the years. It is a plausible idea but so far no such star has been discovered.
