What is the color changing star I am seeing every night?

For the past few nights I have been seeing what looks like a star, but it seems to twinkle diffrentely than a star. I can clearly see Red Green and Blue colors flashing around it. I am in Grand Rapids MI looking Southeast at about 3 AM every night for the past 2 weeks. What is the color changing star I am seeing every night? It sounds like you are describing the planet Mercury. It appears to the naked eye to flash slightly different colors and is positioned in the southeast sky. What is the color changing star I am seeing every night?

What is the color changing star I am seeing every night?i live slightly farther north than grand rapids. i see two stars like that but they are to the northeast. i took out a pair of high power binoculars and saw distinct colors as well. something tells me they arent the same star.

What is the color changing star I am seeing every night? If the star is within Orion ... it's Bellatrix or Rigel

If it is left of Orion ... Procyon

If it is left and tad below Orion ... Sirius

There has been NO Planets near the area you are talking about for more than 3 weeks.

That's just a start with out more info as to how far off the horizon you are looking. What is the color changing star I am seeing every night?
i cant tell you what it is, but get some binoculars to look at it, you will def see the colors then.. the other stars around it do not twinkle the same color, in my sky (tennessee), it is to the west. i was thinking it was a planet, maybe jupiter..
Any star low in the sky will twinkle different colours - in fact, the brighter the star the more pronounced the colours and the twinkling.

From your description, it could be Sirius, the brightest star in our skies. What is the color changing star I am seeing every night?
it could be someones TV. they use red green and blue lights to make the images. could be a TV signal bouncing off the ionosphere.
Most like it is the star Sirius, which often twinkles in bright colours.
